2007 Jefferson Awards for Community Service

 

An enthusiastic audience greeted the 2007 winners of the Jefferson Awards for Public Service as they were honored at a banquet at the Veterans’ Memorial Civic Center on March 28, 2007. A national committee selected Andrea Mitchell, a sophomore at Findlay High School as representative from our area to attend the national ceremonies in June. 

 

Eight individuals were selected from the 45 nominations received and were honored for their outstanding community service. Dr. Ron Black was honored for his work to improve the Glandorf Community Park. Dr. Laura Waldron was honored for her volunteer work with students at the Northwood/Maplewood Center. Shirley Parrish was honored for her years of volunteer service with Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. David Adams received the Jefferson Award for his leadership in establishing the Allen County/Lima Public Officials Dialogue Breakfast program. Lamar Roebuck was recognized for his work with St. Rita’s Hospice. Andy Czajkowski was recognized for his work with the Van Wert United Way, Andrea Mitchell was recognized for her volunteer work with various community organizations. She also trains puppies to give to the Guide Dogs for the Blind. Tom Evans received his award for his volunteer work, including work for the Welsh Society of Northwest Ohio.
