I have been thinking about choices - we all make them each and every day...what type of car we drive, where we work, where we live and the list goes on... We also have a choice as to whether or not we want to take action and make a difference in someone else's life. I look at this as an opportunity as many of you do as year after year we see the successes of the United Way of Greater Lima campaigns.

Why donate to the United Way? Because through your generosity we are able to offer help and support to those in need. It's that simple. It might be your neighbor, a friend or even you some day. Your dollars support a wide variety of services in our community. You might be helping a child become better prepared to enter kindergarten. You might be offering help to a victim of a crime or providing transportation to an elderly person to go to his or her doctor’s appointment.

I believe that together we can make a huge impact within our community. When I think of the United Way I think of the word UNITED and how we all pull together to help those in need. We live in a wonderful community. When there is a need, there is assistance. We all rally together and accomplish great things. While our economy might be sluggish, our hearts and helping hands are wide open. I am very proud to be a part of the United Way organization and this community that I live in. Through your generosity and commitment we are able to help so many people - I know we have and it is my hope we continue to do even more in the future.
