Mynesha Hall

Mynesha Hall has been involved in the Chapters program for eight years.  Chapters is a program of the Girl Scouts of Appleseed Ridge designed to successfully deal with the challenges many students face today.  There is a high rate of teen pregnancy and many are high risk kids from low income, single parent families.  Handling peer pressure, conflict and bullying and building positive leadership skills are goals of the Chapters Program.

For Mynesha Hall her participation in the Chapters Group has had a dramatic influence in her life.

Sgt. Glen Sunderland
Sgt. Sunderland was serving in Iraq when he received word that his father-in-law had passed away and he was concerned about getting home to be with his family.  His family in Lima had contacted the American Red Cross and in turn, the Red Cross was in contact with military officials.  Within 36 hours Sgt Sunderland was home and with his family.  Sgt. Sunderland said, "I'm totally amazed at the speed that the Red Cross worked to get me home.  I was so thankful to be able to be with my wife and family."

Backpack Program
On Wednesday mornings volunteers come to the Food Bank and pack 152 backpacks with food.  They do this so that children who may not have anyting to eat on the weekends can take the backpacks home with them on Friday afternoon.  The children bring the empty backpacks back to school on Monday and the volunteers refill them on Wednesday.
