Volunteers raised $2,205,310 to support communty services.
Karen Miller, 2007 Campaign Chair thanked the community for their support and added that as funds continue to come in they will be added to the total and a final amount will be announced when allocations are completed in April. The 2007 United Way Awards Celebration and Annual Meeting was held January 23rd when 350 volunteers attended to receive their campaign awards.

The evening also served as the United Way Annual Meeting. Elected to four year terms on the United Way board were Jerome O'Neal, Karel Oxley, Keith Deters, Louis Jennings, Stephen Bryan and Kurt Neeper. (2008 United Way Board)
William Timmermeister and John Paradore, both retiring board members were thanked for their work on the United Way board. Marcey Godfrey, retiring Allocations Chair, was thanked for serving as chair for two years and committee member for six.

Eight local Jefferson Award winners were honored at a banquet on April 9th at the Veterans' Memorial Civic Center. The Jefferson Awards are presented to individuals demonstrating outstanding community and public service. The Lima News, WLIO NBC Lima and the United Way sponsor the program in our community. Dan Endicott , Chair of the 2008 Jefferson Awards presented bronze medallions to the eight local winners, along with a check for $350 for their volunteer agency.
A national judging committee selected one of our local winners to attend the national ceremony in Washington DC. Sandy Monfort was selected to attend the Washington event and was honored for her work with Camp Sunrise, a camp for children with AIDS/HIV or who are in a family with someone suffering for the disease. Keith Deters

Keith Deters, Plant Manager of General Dynamics Joint Systems Manufacturing Center is actively involved in community activities in the Lima area. He is currently a member of the United Way of Greater Lima Board of Directors, Allen County Lima Leadership Board of Directors, Allen Economic Development Group Board, Ohio State University Board Trustee and is a member of the Lima Rotary Club.
Keith has been with General Dynamics for 25 years, and in his current position as Plant Manager for the past five years.
A graduate of Kalida High School, Keith received his Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Management from Bluffton College and his MBA Degree in Business Administration from the University of Findlay.
Keith and his wife Donna have lived in Lima for the past nine years. They have two grown sons.
