Mission:
United Way improves lives by uniting the caring power of our community.
Focus:
We fight for the HEALTH, EDUCATION, and FINANCIAL STABILITY of every person in our community!
History:
In 1887 in Denver a woman, a priest, two ministers and a rabbi came together to collectively address issues facing their community.
At its inception, United Way collected funds for local charities, and distributed them to relief services, cooperating agencies and emergency assistance grants. By 1948, more than 1,000 communities had established United Way organizations. Through the years, the United Way has continued to evolve with the needs of the nation it serves. Now United Way organizations across the US are helping millions of people.
With roots tracing back to 1884, the United Way of Greater Lima is dedicated to the citizens of Allen County. The United Way of Greater Lima supports partner agencies and programs focused on the improvement of lives in Allen County. We work in collaboration with government, business and community partners to better the lives of children and families, and to raise awareness of community needs and available services.
We rely on our dedicated staff and partners to conduct research and create programs that address health, education, and financial stability, and the greatest and most immediate needs within them.
In 2018, United Way of Greater Lima celebrated 100 Years in our community. We look forward now to serving the community for the next 100 years with you!
