Emergency Food & Shelter Program

We are pleased to announce that Allen County has received $39,349 from the National Board of the Emergency Food and Shelter Program to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in Allen County.  Federal Funds are made available through the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).   Please click on the link below for the legal  notice.  

To be eligible for the funding as a “Local Recipient Organization”, you must:

  1. Be a private voluntary non-profit, faith-based or units of government,
  2. Be eligible to receive Federal Funds,
  3. Have an accounting system,
  4. Practice non-discrimination,
  5. Have demonstrated capability to deliver emergency food and/or shelter programs, and
  6. If you are a private voluntary organization, have a voluntary board.

Details of the upcoming timeline:

  • The “Spending Period” is to run almost concurrently with Phase 39, ARPAR, and Phase 40. The Spending Period is October 1, 2022 through December 31, 2024.
  • Due date for applications is February 20, 2024.
  • Each applicant is asked to present their program and how they will use the funding to the “Local Board” of EFSP on Thursday, February 22, 2024 starting at 3 pm.  Location:  United Way Building, 616 S. Collet St., Lima.  Each program will have 10 minutes to share.
  • Deadline for the Local Board to submit their “Board Plan” to the “National Board” of EFSP is yet to be determined.
